High performance board members add value to the organization they serve

High performance organizations (HPO) align and reinforce their choices and systems to deliver the desired outcomes.

Focussing on a governance framework that directs and protects the organization is a top priority for Boards of Directors and Council Members. By developing articles of incorporation and policies that reflect the organization’s vision and values in response to the needs of its members or beneficiaries, the Board or Council sets the stage for its own organizational structure and culture.

Research indicates that continuous improvement is the single most important attribute of high performance organizations. In order to achieve successful outcomes, governance and management practices must align all available resources–whether human, financial or material. That’s why high performance Boards and Councils also monitor their organization’s performance regularly.

“Not-for-Profit” organizations and “local governments” often need a reboot. Too many elected board members and municipal officials do not deliver on their true potential as leaders. Instead they focus on administrative functions, competing with staff to carry out various functions. Governance is not management!

That’s where we come in!

Our multidisciplinary team has been involved in governance and management practices for more than 10 years. We recognize how important it is to acknowledge and rely on the contribution made by all stakeholders–whether board or council members, staff or volunteers.  We understand the challenges and constraints experienced by not-for-profit and public organizations. Managing expectations, limited resources, volunteer fatigue, competing interests and ensuring capacity building are crucial. We can help!

That’s why we started the Better Boards Bureau.

So call us NOW to make an appointment. We’ll gladly come to you

GOODWILL IS A GREAT START — BUT IT’S JUST NOT ENOUGH!

Good intentions are most welcome in any environment. High performance organizations (HPO) rely on goodwill. But the need to develop effective and efficient practices based on organizational values and principles to achieve the desired outcomes is paramount. It’s OUR JOB to help not-for-profits offer true value to the people and communities they serve.

We do so by helping each organization develop:

David Neal   MBA, Senior Consultant

David has a wealth of experience in the “not-for-profit” sector.    He has been a Board Member with the Toronto and Central Ontario Region Hemophilia Society (TCOR) since 2005 and with Hemophilia Ontario since 2010.  David understands the struggles of grassroot organizations.
